Glasgow awaits...

What a game that was.
If tonight's match was a sample of what's to come at Celtic Park on Champions League nights this season then the fans are in for a treat.
End to end action, fighting players, goals, missed penalties, sending-offs and a penalty shoot-out. What more could you ask for? Well, a victory, that's what, and Celtic deserved it for me tonight. They had the better chances and McDonald and Nakamura alone could have bagged a double. Spartak were better technically but you need more than skill to cope at this level, as Rangers also showed last night.
It's been a fantastic week for the Old Firm and I think the excitement will continue in the next couple of days with last-minute transfer activity. Both squads still need strengthening to make a real impact in the CL and now the playing staff have done their bit, the chairmen should honour their own role.
It's only hours now until the draw and this is what football's all about. Bring on your Barcelona, Manchester United, AC Milan, Chelsea et al.
Glasgow awaits.

Well Dave I think we got slightly the better draw although you can draw some comfort from Lyon not being the team they once were. Picking up as many points as possible at home will be crucial for both sides.

Last night was incredible at Celtic Park. It seems strange that I paid £21 for all that entertainment yet the cost of my season ticket means I'll pay about £27 to see Gretna & Motherwell.

Martino, it'll definitely be tough but I can't wait to see Barca at Ibrox and us at Nou Camp.
I was thinking, are you a bit disappointed that you're up against two teams you met last year? I'm a bit disappointed there's no Battle of Britain, to be honest. Although there's always the last 16, 8 ...

Rangers have by far the biggest ask although both groups are very tough. I am delighted with the draw though - playing the French and German champions and the mighty Barcelona for the first time ever. Fantastic stuff. I will definitely be trying to get tickets for the Camp Nou. As for Lyon not being the team they once were - they are still very useful and have reached the quarter-finals of the champions league about 5 years running so will be very tough. In fact I'm sure they have always qualified from the group stages. The only battle of Britain I would have wanted was Chelsea or maybe Arsenal. We've played Man U in recent years and they weren't classic games. And as for Liverpool - their Champions League record is amazing. Wouldn't have wanted them.

Dave, yes it sounds a bit churlish to say it but I am a wee bit disappointed with the draw. I know Celtic aren't going to win the thing so I enjoy it for the experience of playing clubs we haven't met in a while. For that reason I was hoping for Real or Inter as first seeds.

Although I cant wait to see Kaka again and my favourite Italian player, wee Rino Gattuso.

Rangers definitely got the tougher draw but, let's face it, as a fourth seed it was always likely and you'd rather be in a group like that than playing that stupid group stage of the UEFA Cup!

The big Euro nights are something special and always to be enjoyed while they last. Bound to be tougher than sticking four past Raydale Rovers.
